Day 2: Arusha – Ngorongoro Crater On this day via serengeti migration best time itinerary, we will drive from Arusha to camp site/lodge for lunch passing by a small town called Mto Wa Mbu that lies beside the Great Rift Valley and Manyara National Park. Mto Wa Mbu is a small town but has more than 120 tribes living in the same area. The majority are Maasai. In the evening, if you wish, you could do a coffee and farm tour within the lodge that takes about 2 hours. Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater  After breakfast, you will continue into the 600-meter-deep unbroken caldera, and you will have a moment to take in the fantastic, awe-inspiring views of the collapsed volcano. Then you will descend the caldera for a game drive. Over 25,000 mammals such as spotted hyenas and the “Big Five” – elephant, rhino, buffalo, leopard, and lion are part of them. You will enjoy lunch at a picnic spot inside the crater.   After lunch, you will continue the game drive and in the afternoon drive back for overnight and get prepared for the Serengeti Migration Best Time next day trip. Day 4/5/6: Ngorongoro Crater – Ndutu The Ndutu calving area in the southern stretches of the Serengeti (Tanzania) is renowned for being one of the great natural wonders of Africa. It is a growing point for the great wildebeest migration, spanning a majestic landscape that transcends time. This region is the genesis of a unique wildlife phenomenon, an annual celebration of life. Can you imagine two million white-bearded wildebeests, or brindled gnu, giving birth to 400,000 calves within a period of three to four weeks? Nothing on earth compares to this spectacle. That is approximately 8000 baby wildebeest born each day. Day 7: Ngorongoro Ndutu – Serengeti National Park After the breakfast plates have been cleared, you will travel onward to the Serengeti National Park, which you will reach by mid-day. The Serengeti National Park is among the largest parks in Tanzania with diverse landscapes and habitats, such as grassy plains, swamps, lakes, savannahs, and mountains. Here the biggest wildebeest and zebra migrations take place and you will have the opportunity to witness thousands of animals in their search for nourishment. Day 8 & 9: Serengeti National Park  Today, plan for a full-day game drive at Serengeti National Park.  We will start early in the morning after breakfast since it is when most of the cats are active. Serengeti is well known for being the home of carnivores due to the topography – the kopjes (rock formations), endless plains, and the Mara‐Grumeti ecosystem which facilitates interaction with prey.  Here you will witness the famous annual wildebeest migration too!  After the early morning game drive, we will get back for a hot lunch and have a short break.   Thereafter after we will proceed with the game drive until the evening, then get back for dinner at the Camp. Day 10: Serengeti National Park – Olduvai Gorge Early morning you will set out on another game drive in the Serengeti before continuing towards the Oldupai Gorge. The site is significant in showing the increasing developmental and social complexities in the earliest humans (hominids).  The collecting of tools and animal remains in a central area is evidence of developing social interaction and communal activity. All these factors indicate an increase in cognitive capacities at the beginning of the period of hominids transitioning to hominins—that is, to human—form and behavior. Day 11: Lake Manyara – Tarangire National Park (add-on) Today the group divides – you will either go to the airport or participate in the add-on adventure.  If you are flying out, after breakfast we drive to Arusha to go to the JRO airport.  If you have enough time before your flight, your guides will take you to the Cultural Heritage Museum so you can have lunch at the museum restaurant.  For folks with the add-on, you will head to Tarangire. Day 11/12: Lake Manyara  – Tarangire National park After breakfast, you will be picked up by your guide with lunch boxes and start a 1hour drive to Tarangire National Park. With its savannah, seasonal swamps, and upside-down trees, it is well known for its large number of elephant herds. There are approximately 4000 elephants here!   After an extensive game drive, you will leave the park and travel to Lake Burunge for

The river attracts crocodiles and hippos too…. You never know what you might encounter!  We will have a picnic lunch in the park and return to the camp in the late afternoon for some down time.  You may choose to relax or join your guide on an evening game drive before dinner.  Day 6,7 & 8: Serengeti National Park  Kogatende Area (Northern Serengeti) is normally packed full of action from July to October as massive herds cross the famous Mara River. You will experience prime wildlife viewing during the Great Migration as different animals from small to large are abundant and full of life during this time of year. Following the briefing, we’ll set off for our first safari destination: the diverse Tarangire National Park. There, we’ll enjoy lunch, embark on an afternoon game drive, and spend the night amidst the wilderness.   Journey: (Morning) Arusha to Tarangire National Park: Our morning journey to Tarangire National Park spans approximately two hours, covering a distance of 120 kilometers as we head westwards from Arusha. Along the route, you’ll be treated to a vibrant display of Tanzania’s colors and character. Keep an eye out for scenes like Maasai herdsmen guiding their flocks of goats to new pastures. This journey also provides the perfect opportunity to get acquainted with your knowledgeable driver-guide, who effortlessly shares insights and answers any questions you may have.   Day’s Highlight: Safari (Game Drive) in Tarangire National Park: Tarangire National Park greets us with its vastness, stretching as far as the eye can see. Known as the ‘Elephant Playground,’ this remarkable park is home to massive herds of these majestic mammals. However, its wildlife diversity extends beyond elephants to include buffalo, lions, wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles. Tarangire’s animal densities rival even those of the famous Serengeti.   During our game drive, keep your eyes peeled for fascinating sightings. Perhaps you’ll encounter a solitary male lion relaxing beneath a tree, or a trio of male cheetahs enjoying some leisurely bonding time in the sun. Graceful Grant’s gazelles and zebras might bound away from the road, while giraffes leisurely munch on acacia branches. Look out for Tarangire’s specialties, such as kudus and oryx. Don’t overlook the small wonders of Tarangire. While it’s easy to be captivated by the grandeur of elephants and the elegance of giraffes, keep an eye out for smaller creatures like the agama lizard, which undergoes color changes based on temperature, or the hyrax, a small creature surprisingly related to elephants. Avian enthusiasts will delight in sightings of colorful birds like the lilac-breasted roller and blue-eared starling.   Tarangire is also renowned for its splendid baobab trees, rolling savannah, and acacia woodland. Although the park can be dusty at times, this minor inconvenience is outweighed by the abundance of wildlife sightings. Don’t forget to wear a scarf over your mouth to mitigate dust exposure while enjoying the plethora of wildlife experiences Tarangire has to offer. Day 3: Tarangire – Serengeti Journey: (morning) Tarangire National Park to Serengeti National Park (afternoon) As we bid farewell to the wonders of Tarangire, our journey continues north and west towards the iconic Serengeti National Park.
